Uber Credit Card to Be Sunset; Existing Holders Will Transition to New Product

by admin

The Uber Credit Card is taking its last lap.

This is the same card that Barclaycard Visa with Apple Rewards cardholders were transitioned to in April 2021. And as was the case with that product transition, the Barclays View Mastercard will not be accepting direct applications.

Here’s a look at how the Uber Credit Card compares with the Barclays View Mastercard:

  • 5% back in Uber Cash on Uber, Uber Eats and bike and scooter rides through Jump, an electric scooter and bike service owned by Uber (does not include purchases of Uber gift cards or direct purchases of Uber Cash).

  • 3% back in Uber Cash on eligible dining, hotels and airfare.

  • 1% back in Uber Cash on all other purchases.

  • 3 points per $1 spent on dining.

  • 2 points per $1 spent on streaming, internet, phone and TV.

  • 2 points per $1 spent at grocery stores.

  • 1 point per $1 spent on all other purchases.

Standard Visa and Visa Signature core benefits.

Standard Mastercard Core benefits including rental car coverage, ID theft protection and Mastercard Global Services.

Notifications are being mailed to existing Uber Credit Card customers this week. Barclays says it will start shipping the new cards, which will have new account numbers, in October 2021.

Until then, customers can continue using their Uber Credit Card and earning rewards on it as normal. Rewards earned on the card will remain intact and be transferred to the new account on a 1:1 basis.

“Cardmembers will retain their points, which can be redeemed as a statement credit, deposit to checking/savings, gift cards or merchandise,” a Barclays spokesperson says.
